Grimmich, droef, mistroostich.

Is thans welhaest verdweenen...

Eensch was dootsch drassich moer aldaer,
Noch begaenbaer, noch bewoonbaer.

Stonden garant voor eeuwiche rust.
Maer helaes, siet aen,

Hebben 't groote kwaet ghedaen;
Van 't Peelmoer sompich, stille ende ghevreest,
Is thans haest nietsch meer over.

Eensch was ooc woeste wijde heide aldaer.
Deese kaale, dorre ende eentooniche vlacte,
Waerop slechts hier ende daer een bleecke boom,
Stuche struyc of verlaaten ven,
Weckte onghewilt een droevich ghevoel op,
En wert dus maer ontghonnen.
