Bij 't venne waerin Lucifeer woont,
Inne die seeckere winternacht…

Maer! Menschen hadden gheroocken onraet
Ende eene groote drijf yacht beraet.
Alras quaemen sy vervaerlyc aengheset,
In d' hand riec, steel ende vange net.
Ghedreeven werden toen ontelbaer veel
Weerwolven naer den boschrant der Peel -
Zouden loopen in eene fuycke ende dan
Ghemack'lyc ghedoet?

Doch! Trollen verscheenen daer terstont,
Woeste trocken sy 't bosch uyt den gront,
Smeeten het ter aert ende in 't moer
Ende draeyden soo die menschen eenen loer;
Dwaellicht immersch, is hun seer veel waert,
Sonnenlicht kunnen sy niet verdraeghen.
Soo ontquaemen die wolven aen den Doet,
O, ende hoeseer daer noch wert ghebloet!

Gheene mensch bleeve ghespaert,
Inne die seeckere winternacht…
